Know Theatre presents The Finkles’ Theater Show
The Robert J. Theirauf Producers Pick of the 2010 Cincinnati Fringe Returns
This holiday season, Know Theatre is pleased to announce that the Producer’s Pick from the 2010 Cincinnati Fringe Festival will be returning for a six performances encore run this December. The Finkles’ Theater Show will open on December 6 and play on off nights during the run of A Wrinkle In Time through December 14, 2010.
From the Finkles’: “Hi there, friend! Come see our first ever theater show! We may be new to this, but we have seen a lot of theater, so we’re pretty sure we know what we’re doing! We were so excited when we found out that we were returning to perform again in Cleveland! We can’t wait to come back and meet all of you and show you what we’ve been working on. There’s going to be singing, juggling, tumbling, guest stars, duels, and a gigantic musical number. It’s going to be the greatest thing since sliced potato cakes. So bring your friends, your families, your neighbors, and your neighbors’ neighbors (that’s you silly!), and tell them that the Finkles are in town!” – Sincerely, Carl and Wanda (and Tinkles Sprinkles) Finkles.
Joseph McDonough from the Cincinnati Enquirer said, “In seven years of fringe festing I cannot remember a more enjoyable and polished gem than The Finkles’ Theater Show.” Julie York Coppens from CityBeat said, “there’s…that moment when everything suddenly comes together, and we feel the love of art and life that’s brought us together in this special place for an experience we’d be unable to have anywhere else.”
Know’s Producing Artistic Director says, “What can I say about the Finkles? They’re weird. Oh, and super funny. Oh, and they’re really nice people. And they help me maintain my honorary position on the Minneapolis city council, as Know Theatre has become the chief importer of theatre from that city.”
From St. Paul, Minnesota, Ryan Lear and Rachel Petrie met in 2006 at the University of Minnesota and have been doing theater together ever since. The Finkles’ Theater Show is their first original work and was first presented at the 2009 Minnesota Fringe Festival to enthusiastic reviews. One of them mentioned “barfing a lung from laughing so hard.” That is taken as a compliment and not an indication of the show’s health hazards.
