AMBASSADOR SERVICES EXPAND TO OVER-THE-RHINE
To accommodate the rapid growth of residential development, independent businesses, and entertainment activity in Over-the-Rhine, 3CDC with help from the Over-The-Rhine Chamber has extended a similar clean and safe ambassador program seen in Cincinnati’s Central Business District into Over-the-Rhine.
“This ambassador service will greatly compliment the ongoing development in Over-the-Rhine. With more residents moving into the area and the extra activity in the community it is a great asset to have an extra pair of eyes on the street helping with safety and additional help with the cleanliness of the neighborhood” said Chad Munitz, Executive Vice President of Development & Operations of 3CDC.
Two different ambassador teams started working on the streets of Over-the-Rhine the week of June 13. The clean team consists of one ambassador that works Monday through Friday 6am to 2:30pm and Saturday & Sunday 8:30am to 5pm. They focus on litter patrol, graffiti removal, weed abatement, and pressure washing.
The second team provides safety services. They patrol the streets Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 3:30pm to Midnight and are responsible for panhandling interactions, bike patrols and safety patrols.
The ambassadors’ route will include Vine and Main streets between Liberty Ave. and Central Parkway and 12th and 13th streets between Vine and Main streets. During the shifts, their office will be located at 1417 Vine Street.
The program is funded through December 31, 2011, at that time the program will be evaluated and a decision as to whether or not it will continue or if the route needs to be expand will be examined
The total cost of this program will be approximately $100,000. This was made possible by the generous support of 3CDC, the Greater Cincinnati Foundation and The Carol Ann and Ralph V. Haile, Jr./U.S. Bank Foundation and the Over-The-Rhine Chamber.
